FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does your online bookkeeping service work?

1. You send us copies of your invoices, receipts, bank statements, and credit card statements through Google Dropbox, Google Drive, email, regular postal mail, or we can pick up from local clients.

2. We transfer the data from the documents you provide to the books of accounting.

3. The books of accounting are closed at the end of each month and financial statements are created. These include your primary reports: the income statement and balance sheet. We send these to you within 2 weeks of month end. However, a trial balance report can be generated at any time to show the status of your finances.

What other financial reports can you send me?

You may want reports on cash flow, budget, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc. We compile reports based on your business needs.

Do you file all our government reports?

That depends. We can file state reports like sales tax, but we generally do not compile tax returns for most clients. Most of our clients have their own Certified Public Accountant (CPA) compiling their business and personal tax returns. If you do not have a CPA yet, we can provide that service through our own CPA. We do provide the necessary reports and documentation to make tax returns and financial advice quick work for your CPA.

What software or apps do you use?

For the best answer to this question, see our blog article: Tool Spotlight: 2026 Best Software for Small Business Operations. We use whatever software you are currently using or help you choose a software stack for your business. We are flexible and do whatever is most cost effective.

How are you qualified?

While we cannot guarantee these results for every client, our efforts have resulted in increased income, profits, and growth for clients and employers. Our owner graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maine, has worked for a CPA, worked for many small businesses making over $100,000 annually, including managing a veterinary practice and livestock farm, was a licensed insurance producer in Maine, has made over $100,000 annually in the stock market, and has multiple certifications in digital marketing and web design. We work hard for you because we have a personal stake in your business. Your success is our success.

What do you consider a small business?

Most of our clients are:

  • Independently Owned
  • With Fewer Than 500 Employees
  • And Making Under 7.5 Million in Annual Revenue

How do your other services work?

Services like bookkeeping, website management, and social media management are ongoing. Services like employee hiring and training are on an as needed basis. A service like the Business Systems Audit is a one-time project. All of these services can be performed remotely through email, phone calls, texts, and video chat.

As an example, the business systems audit requires an in-depth look at how your business runs.

  • We ask questions of you and everyone on your staff to determine how each team member works within your business systems.
  • We evaluate your documentation, processes, and procedures.
  • We chart your existing workflows and critical business systems.
  • We identify your operational bottlenecks.
  • We collect all KPI numbers for a starting point.
  • We test your processes and procedures through various methodologies.
  • We develop preliminary recommendations for system improvement.
  • We then talk to you about everything we found and recommend.
  • Based on our talk with you, we write up our recommendations for improvement for your approval.
  • We draw up a plan of action for implementing the approved improvements.
  • We stand ready to support you and your staff as you move forward.
  • If you choose, we can follow through to make sure improvements are being implemented as directed and numbers are improving as expected.
